To be honest I really don't know too much about this station, other than the art by Carson Waterman, the well-known Seneca painter. When interviewing Carson for the Buffalo Maritime Center and his experiences in Buffalo, he talked about getting the opportunity to produce the mosaic mural. It took him all summer and into the fall to cut the tiles and piece them together. Altogether it took a bout a year! It was much more work than he had anticipated because the funding would not cover the cost for the tile company to help with the cutting. He told me he sold the tile cutter immediately after the project was done. The mosaic, finished in 1984, represents three medicinal plants important in Seneca culture and to the larger Haudenosaunee. They include sassafras, wild ginger, and boneset.

Rondal Ray

At least one escalator is always broken. One has been broken for over 3 years. It has metal benches to sit on in the freezing winter while waiting for buses that arrive every 30 to 60 minutes.
