Last night, I parked my car at the Canadian Tire parking lot, which is a paid service, expecting it to be safe since it operates under the Canadian Tire name. Unfortunately, when I returned, I found my car and four others with broken windows. My wallet was stolen from my vehicle.

We tried calling the number posted for assistance multiple times, but no one answered, and it seemed like the number was not in service. When I contacted the store manager today, he informed me that the parking is managed by a third-party company and that Canadian Tire cannot guarantee safety there. This was very frustrating, especially since it is paid parking. I don’t see any difference in terms of security between this lot and street parking.

To make matters worse, the manager did not seem interested in listening to my concerns. I asked for the head office number, which he claimed did not exist and instead gave me a general customer care number. It’s disappointing that Canadian Tire doesn’t take more responsibility for a lot that operates under its name.

This experience was extremely frustrating, and the lack of accountability from the store only made it worse. Be cautious if you plan to park at this location!

BEWARE: Parking Lot SCAM overnight parking lot.

Came to park in the parking lot just after 9pm on a Friday. Two attendants from the parking lot told me I couldn’t park in the lot after 9, even though all the posted signs said that the Parking Lot was 24/7. There was a sign that said all parking after 9pm must be pre-paid, but the attendants don’t let you pay. They stood near my vehicle waiting to ticket me. It seemed SO SKETCHY. They gave all the other cars in the lot parking tickets. They didn’t give me any information on why I couldn’t park after 9pm and made it seem like they just wanted us to leave so they could slap a ticket on my car too. I left right away and urge all other drivers DONT PARK HERE.

I went there to pick up a TV Stand. Online it says they have 2 in stock at this location. When I went to pick it up they said they have 0 in stock. Rather than be proactive and update their inventory after, I see today (next day) they still list it as 2 in stock.

At first one person said I couldn't buy it because their elevator was out of service, then they had their peer check and within 10 seconds they said they didn't have any in the warehouse (seemed too quick to be true). So I decided to try another method / staff member and did the Scan and Buy, and had another staff member on the floor say I had to go to Customer service. Then after waiting an extended period of time was told they didn't have any again. Complete waste of my time, and by not updating their Quantity on hand (I see today / next day as Qty 2 still), they are indicating that they are perfectly fine with allowing another customer to have the same poor experience.

Management in the auto shop (Roberto) and store management (Dave) gave both myself and the insurance claim agent a difficult time rather than accepting payment and addressing a refund at a later date. This led to my car being stuck in their shop for longer than it should have, which was difficult to manage due to family obligations and a hospital visit. It seemed that the store staff didn't care about the customer which is contrary to the Canadian Tire brand I am used to.

My recommendation would be for the store to consider your customers needs and be open to collaborating with your customers when they’re willing to work with you.

For future customers - avoid this shop if you have an insurance claim.

In the summer, I shopped here for a few things and also used the automotive service. I won't return to this location. Some of the staff are unfriendly to persons who continue to need to mask. Being stared at by staff for an inordinate amount of time is uncomfortable and unpleasant. I can get my needs met elsewhere. One would think that staff would have some sensitivity to the needs of others, and my mask-wearing doesn't change the fact that I am a customer with money to spend. The CT near my home is much more friendly in this way, and some of the staff even continue to mask. I'll probably decide to visit them a bit more, or just give up on CT altogether. We'll see.

Disappointed with Return Policy and Customer Service at Canadian Tire Eaton Centre

I recently purchased two items from Canadian Tire Eaton Centre:

1. Universal BP Charger
2. MC 60TL PB M/U/S

When I tried to return them, I encountered several issues:

MC 60TL PB M/U/S: The packaging was slightly damaged when I bought it, and the item was never used.

Universal BP Charger: I was informed that the product is subject to an "exchange warranty only" policy. However, this policy was not communicated to me before the purchase—no signs, no verbal notice. It was only printed on the receipt, which I couldn’t see until after the transaction.

To make things worse, I waited nearly 30 minutes to speak with a manager, and no one ever showed up.

Customers should be informed of important return policies before completing a purchase, not after. This lack of transparency, paired with poor customer service, has left me disappointed.

I hope Canadian Tire addresses these issues to ensure better experiences for other customers in the future.
