Haven't been there since the 90s. The lights are still there! The ones on the ceiling! They look like the little battery looking things inside electronics. They always reminded me of those lights.

I'm always through here. I love it, but also I reflect back to the time where I lived here. In 2016 I was homeless living out of a tent. It was rough, but there were numerous outreach ministries that came to the park to help those in need. Vendors in the area for the most part are generous and although it can be a dangerous place at night, police patrols are fairly frequent. There's free events with music in the summer at the Amphitheater and there's always someone selling snacks close by. I also like to sit and view the pond. The downsides just come with the territory, they don't bother me that much.

Dirtiest park I've ever seen in my life. Nothing against homeless people, I get it, but, the amount of dirty needles, open drug use, panhandlers, and garbage everywhere was just unacceptable. Cops could care less that there's people literally heating up spoons on the streets to do their drugs with. Also, tons of bird feces. It's like they've completely given up on this place.

Once you get out of the station, there’s a Mercado latino on the street. It’s fun to check around. It gets a lil sketchy at night time. There’s misa gatherings happening at the mcarthur park every Sunday.
